Projects with Impact

CHW Toolkit (2019-2020)

The South Dakota Community Health Worker (CHW) Toolkit Project was a collaborative effort between CHWSD (Community Health Workers of South Dakota) and Emory University’s Centers for Training and Technical Assistance. This project aimed to support organizations planning, implementing, and sustaining CHW programs to strengthen community-based healthcare services and improve health equity in underserved populations.

During my time as a Community Engagement Graduate Research Assistant at Emory (2019–2020), I contributed to this initiative by:

  • Conducting a literature review of over 150 research articles on CHW best practices and integration strategies.

  • Supporting the writing and design of the CHW toolkit for the South Dakota Department of Health.

  •  Coordinating webinars and evaluations to enhance CHW workforce development.

  •  Engaging rural stakeholders and policymakers to ensure toolkit accessibility and implementation feasibility.

This project helped bridge gaps in healthcare access by equipping health organizations and policymakers with the tools to build a sustainable CHW workforce in South Dakota.

Georgia Climate Project (2020 -2021)

During my time with the Georgia Climate Project, I helped conceptualize and launch the GCP Webinar Series, working alongside Dr. Jill Gambill to pioneer this platform for climate communication and collaboration. This initiative brought together researchers, policymakers, and community members to discuss Georgia’s most pressing climate challenges and solutions.

Additionally, I contributed to the Climate Information Portal, writing on "How does climate change affect Georgia's health?"—an essential resource that connects scientific insights with public health impacts. Through these efforts, I aimed to make climate science more accessible, actionable, and relevant for communities across Georgia.

Monthly Air Analysis Reports for ACTS (2023-Present)

I create air quality analysis reports to empower communities through citizen science. By transforming raw air pollution data into insightful visuals, I help bridge the gap between environmental data and public understanding. Through clear communication and meaningful data storytelling, I support informed decision-making and community-driven action for cleaner air. Check out the AQI Dashboard here to see how data can drive change!
